Experience the best of East Hawaiʻi on this fun, local, and educational journey through nature, history, and culture. Our day begins at HAWAI’I VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, where you’ll explore breathtaking highlights including Uēkahuna, the steam vents, Volcano House, Kīlauea Iki, and Nāhuku (Thurston Lava Tube). Discover the power and story of Kīlauea while learning about the island’s unique geology and cultural significance.
Next, we’ll embark on a Hilo adventure, heading into historic Hilo Town for lunch, where local flavors and small-town charm come together. The adventure continues with stops at the stunning RAINBOW FALLS, a beautiful BLACK SAND BEACH, a local MACADAMIA FARM, the peaceful Liliʻuokalani Gardens, scenic Banyan Drive and Big Island Candies.
This tour blends natural wonders, rich Hawaiian history, and a true Native Hawaiian experience — giving you more than just sightseeing, but a meaningful connection to Hawaiʻi Island.

A private tour offers a more personal, relaxed, and meaningful way to experience Hawaiʻi Island. Instead of traveling with strangers on a fixed schedule, your group enjoys the day at your own pace with the full attention of a knowledgeable local guide.
With a private experience, you’ll have:
- Flexible timing — spend more time at the places you love, such as Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Rainbow Falls.
- Personalized storytelling rooted in local culture and history, including a Native Hawaiian experience.
- A comfortable, intimate setting for families, couples, or friends.
- More opportunities for questions, photos, and connection, especially during your Hilo adventure or a visit to a Macadamia Farm.
- A deeper cultural experience at iconic locations.
Private tours are ideal for celebrating special occasions, creating family memories, or simply enjoying a more exclusive and customized adventure.
When you book private, you’re not just reserving a tour — you’re investing in a richer, more authentic Hawaiʻi Island experience.

We recommend booking your tour as early as possible to ensure availability. Popular tours may sell out quickly, especially during peak tourist season.
We recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing as if your going for a quick hike and a jacket for colder temperatures in the morning. Slippers are optional for walks on the beach. Umbrellas and flashlights will be provided.
Lunch will be purchased on your own but snacks and bottled water will be provided.
Hilo Hotels , Hilo Airport, Hilo Pier and Liliuokalani Gardens
All stops are easy to walk but the Nahuku Lava Tube is a 0.5 mile walk with inclines and declines within the trail.
We require at least 24 hours notice for groups of one to five guests, 48 hours for groups of six or more, and 72 hours for private tours for a full refund. “No-shows” will be charged full price.
Definitely Guarantee Return on time

Pualena Tours was founded with one purpose: to share the true spirit of Hawaiʻi with visitors from around the world.
Born and raised on Hawaiʻi Island, our founder grew up surrounded by the history, culture, and natural beauty of the land. After spending four years as a professional tour guide, he developed a passion for sharing the stories of the island—its volcanoes, its people, and its deep cultural roots.
Wanting to offer something more personal and authentic, he created Pualena Tours. This locally owned company focuses on volcano and Hilo tours, giving guests the chance to experience Hawaiʻi through the eyes of someone who truly calls it home.
At Pualena Tours, every journey is more than just sightseeing. It’s about connecting with the land, learning the stories behind the places you visit, and experiencing the island with respect and aloha.
When you tour with Pualena Tours, you’re not just visiting Hawaiʻi—you’re experiencing it the local way.
